ABOUT ABOUT

Join the Durham Art Guild for an entertaining and engaging virtual cocktail-making session (or mock-tail making session) as part of our 2022 Swing into Spring festivities! On Wednesday, March 30th from 7:00-8:30 PM, get ready to fill your shakers with ice and prepare two seasonal, art-inspired beverages: the Still Life Sour and the Fine Art Fizz. We're thrilled to have Kingfisher's Michelle Vanderwalker and food photographer Stacey Sprenz leading the evening's event, providing insights into the process of creating delicious drinks and talking about how art and food/beverage create an incredible experience when paired together. Zoom link and goodie bag pick-up details will be emailed to registrants!

Bios of our talented instructors:

Michelle Vanderwalker has always loved creating things with her hands. She was influenced and inspired by her grandmother, who taught her to see and value the design inherent in nature and to bring that inspiration into her work. Michelle is the co-owner of Kingfisher Bar, Queeny's, and Queenburger. Her talent for creating inspired, art-filled spaces is evident the minute you walk into these local establishments.

Stacey Sprenz, local freelance photographer and lover of cocktails, will team up with Michelle to create both spirited and spirit-free drinks for this class.

    - The Durham Art Guild (DAG) is a nonprofit member-driven visual arts organization established in 1948. Our mission is to enrich and connect our communities by creating opportunities and providing leadership for current and future visual artists and art enthusiasts.

The Guild has supported the vibrant, growing and changing creative communities throughout the region for over seven decades and we need community collaboration to keep these efforts going:

    • Art exhibitions across multiple public partnership venues showcasing over 300 regional artists.
    • Arts related events including receptions, lectures, and professional development workshops.
    • The Creative Mentorship Program, which connects local high school students and local artists for creative collaboration and exploration. In 2022 we will add larger group art activities with our Student U partners.
    • The Artist in Residence Program, which provides local emerging artists with free studio space and grant $.
    • The Art@Work Program, which connects local artists to local businesses and enhances our
creative economy. In 2022 we will roll out an online artist directory to easily connect local artists and patrons.
